Awareness Campaign

One of the most powerful stories that your services has to offer is the access to mortgage financing that will increase a consumer’s buying power. Lenders should be an important element of your marketing plan. In terms of a powerful referral tool, nothing can beat helping a family to afford to buy the American dream, their own home.

But to be effective in working with lenders you need to know the products you offer access to and the benefits of the products.

To assist lenders and energy raters to understand energy mortgages and be able to communicate the latest information on them to lenders, builders, and consumers, RESNET has launched a "soup-to-nuts" web site on energy mortgages.

The web site offers the following information on energy mortgage products offered by VA, FHA, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae:

  • A short summary of each program including what paper work a lender needs to complete.
  • An example of how each product works.
  • The actual underwriting guidelines for each product.

In addition to the new Fannie Mae energy efficient mortgage product, the web site includes:

  • A national listing of lenders offering the product.
  • The Fannie Mae/RESNET Agreement on ratings as verification for the energy efficient mortgage products.
  • As an added service, RESNET has a lender’s on-line help line for lenders to have their questions answered as they process energy mortgages.

View and download the web site by clicking on RESNET Lenders Corner.
