Energy efficiency is a critical issue in terms of housing quality and affordability housing. The cost of cooling and heating is the highest cost of home ownership outside of the mortgage loan. It is now possible to reduce a home’s energy use by a third without sacrificing amenities and lifestyle using readily available and cost effective technologies.

There are a number of initiatives in Nevada aimed at fostering energy efficient housing for all Nevadans.

This web site highlights energy efficient building codes that have been adopted to ensure new homes are energy efficient and the voluntary efforts of home energy ratings and energy mortgages that create a market incentive for building and buying homes that meet or exceed the minimum energy code.

This web site was developed by Western Residential Energy Services through a contract with the Nevada State Energy Office with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy.  For more information contact Western Residential Energy Services at resnet@earthlink.net.
