RESNET has created the Green Rater Certification. This is the first
RATER Advanced Level of Certification which was adopted previously in
the RESNET Standards.
In order to certify green homes under various programs a certifier,
verifier, professional, etc (depending on whose term you use at this
time) must inspect and certify the home. RESNET (in cooperation with
various green programs) has created a Green Rater Advanced Certification
for certified energy raters. This additional advanced level of training
on the non-energy aspects of certifying a home is receiving national
attention due to the rollout of several national programs such as LEED
for Homes. Successful completion of this training will lead to
certification by RESNET as a Green RATER.
RESNET’’s role is providing a framework and minimum qualifications
for certifying any residential home for energy and non energy items.
RESNET is cooperating with various national and regional green programs
to provide the needed support to certify the thousands of homes which
will need certification/verification in the next year under various
green programs.
On Saturday, February 16, 2008, RESNET will be hosting training for
raters to be certified as RESNET as Green Raters. Each of the presenters
at this training represent a specific green program and all have come
together to cooperate and show support for a unified certification. The
intent of this course is to provide RATERS with the necessary skills to
certify/verify non-energy related items for the certification of a home
as being green. The course is 6 hours long and includes lunch.
The future presentation of this course will be provided by RESNET
Rater Training Providers and will be offered on an as needed basis at a
cost determined by the Rater Training Provider. The agenda for this
training session is 6 hours long and in the future specific green
programs will be able to add an additional 2 hours to the training
curriculum specific to their program.
If you have already received training on a specific green program and
wish to receive this Advanced Level of Rater Certification, RESNET has
established a committee to review each case on a specific case by case
basis.
This session will be six hours long and the cost will be $95.00. The
cost will include lunch and a Certificate upon completion of the course.
