News Feature on Energy Efficient Mortgages
For the past year RESNET has been involved
in a partnership to promote energy efficient homes, home energy ratings,
and energy mortgages in the Tar Heal state. The partnership is with the
North Carolina Fannie Mae Partnership Office, the North
Carolina Energy Office, the state's raters,
Countrywide Home Loans, and Wachovia Mortgage.
RESNET received funding for this effort from the North Carolina Energy
Office.
Through this effort, RESNET has developed and
conducted a rater business development training program that provides raters
the skills to market their services in their housing markets.
To capture public awareness, a series of
"Energy Efficient Mortgage Roll Outs" have been held in the major housing
markets of Asheville, Charlotte, the Raleigh-Durham area, and Wilmington.
The efforts have been highly successful in educating the state's housing
industry leaders about the benefits of ratings and energy mortgages and
drawing media attention.
Charlotte television news station, News 14,
aired a very good story that explains home energy ratings and the benefits
of energy mortgages. You can view this news story on the story by clicking
